Commercial real estate firm Driftwood Capital has executed the structural topping off of the Westin Cocoa Beach Resort & Spa, an approximately $420 million development on Florida’s Space Coast.
The 502-key resort is now 45 percent complete and remains on track for completion in the third quarter of 2027. Driftwood is working with local general contractor KAST Construction, while design is being led by San Francisco, Calif.-based architectural firm Gensler. North Palm Beach, Fla.-based Driftwood Hospitality Management is expected to assume operations upon the property’s opening.
After breaking ground in September 2024, the Westin Cocoa Beach Resort & Spa represents Driftwood’s latest project in a decade-long presence on the Space Coast. Driftwood is poised to own approximately 62 percent of the region’s beachfront hotel inventory and 11 percent of its total hotel inventory upon completion of the resort, according to recent market data.
“This achievement marks a continued standard of excellence for development on Florida’s Space Coast, delivering a distinctive project that is expected to meet the region’s growing demand while highlighting its evolution in business, technology, tourism and hospitality,” Carlos Rodriguez Sr., chairman and CEO of Driftwood, said in a statement. “We look forward to advancing into the next phase of the Westin Cocoa Beach Resort & Spa and contributing to the region’s ongoing success as a key economic driver for the state.”
Located on Atlantic Avenue, the Westin Cocoa Beach Resort & Spa will occupy 15.7 acres of oceanfront property and will feature the largest conference center on the Space Coast. Planned meeting and event offerings include more than 72,000 square-feet of open-air venues complemented by 51,500 square-feet of indoor meeting and conference space.
The resort’s amenities are expected to include 11 food-and-beverage venues with themed dining concepts, a world-class spa, a surfing wave pool, multiple swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, a full-service fitness center, a variety of retail options and a multi-story parking garage accommodating approximately 800 vehicles.
