Sonesta signs seven U.S. hotels to MOD Collection soft brand

Sonesta International Hotels has revealed seven executed agreements that will bring a diverse group of U.S. properties into the MOD Collection by Sonesta soft brand.

The newly signed MOD Collection hotels are located in Boston; Daytona Beach; Orlando; Chicago; New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; Healdsburg, Calif.; and the Pocono Mountains. The upscale soft brand’s portfolio currently includes three open properties: Hotel 11, MOD Collection by Sonesta in Calgary, Alberta; ACP Hotel Houston Westchase, MOD Collection by Sonesta in Houston; and Dry Creek Inn, MOD Collection by Sonesta in Sonoma, Calif.

Introduced in June 2023 and opened to franchising shortly thereafter, MOD Collection by Sonesta is designed for owners seeking to preserve the individuality, personality and local connection of their hotels, according to the Newton, Mass.-based company.

“These MOD signings include a city-center hotel, beachfront resorts and distinctive leisure destinations such as the Poconos, Orlando, wine country and coastal Florida,” Keith Pierce, Sonesta’s EVP and president of franchise & development, said in a statement. “The addition of these seven hotels adds meaningful scale to MOD Collection’s domestic footprint and further establishes it as a compelling soft-brand choice within the Sonesta portfolio.”

“We are bringing seven distinct, high-quality properties to the Sonesta portfolio, demonstrating both the flexibility of MOD and its strong appeal to owners who want to maintain their hotel’s unique identity,” said Phil Hugh, chief development officer for Sonesta. “At the same time, these owners gain the strategic advantages of Sonesta’s robust commercial platform and award-winning guest loyalty program. Interest in our soft brands remains high and we’re confident these hotels will thrive as part of our brand family.”
