Under Canvas is set to open Under Canvas White Mountains next June. This marks the brand’s second location in New England and its first in New Hampshire.
Set on 86 acres, the new camp has views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range—known locally as “the Prezzies”— and is surrounded by meadows, forests and orchards. Located on the quieter western side of the White Mountains, this area has access to outdoor recreation, scenic mountain vistas and forested hiking trails.
Following Under Canvas Acadia in Maine, this new camp has access to White Mountain National Forest—one of the most visited national forests in the U.S. Within a short drive, guests can explore Franconia Notch State Park, the Kancamagus Highway and the Mount Washington Cog Railway. The camp is also just a short distance from charming gateway towns including Littleton, Bethlehem and Lancaster.
“With the launch of Under Canvas White Mountains, we’re deepening our presence in the Northeast and expanding access to some of the region’s most iconic outdoor destinations,” Under Canvas CEO Matt Gaghen said in a statement. “The White Mountains have long been a beloved road trip destination for East Coast travelers, and this location allows us to offer an exceptional upscale base camp experience within easy reach of major metro markets, including Boston and New York City. From summit views to scenic drives and endless trails, this camp is a gateway to everything that makes New England’s natural beauty so unforgettable.”
Under Canvas White Mountains has safari-inspired canvas tents, blending rustic charm with modern comfort with West Elm furnishings and curated amenities. Each tent includes a private deck with forested and agricultural views an ensuite bathroom with a pull-chain shower, sink and flushing toilet, king-size bed, luxe linens, bedside lanterns, a wood-burning stove and USB battery packs. There are a variety of tent types, including the brand’s unique Stargazer Tent, which features a sky-viewing window above the bed, a spacious Suite Tent and the ultimate tent type for families or groups, the Mount Washington Suite—two tents connected by a private deck and outdoor lounge.
Onsite, there is a seasonal café-style dining that will draw inspiration from local flavors and regional ingredients, and programming such as live music, yoga and outdoor games, all centered around communal fire pits.
