Hotel management company At Mine Hospitality has reopened The Fifth Hotel in Miami Beach following a rebrand and transition in management and ownership.
Formerly known as Life House, South of Fifth, the 26-room boutique property is located on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood. Originally constructed in 1937 as the Hotel York, the building has undergone multiple rebrands over the decades, including as Jazz on South Beach Hostel before its stint as Life House, South of Fifth.
“At Mine currently manages five other hotels in the SoFi neighborhood, a submarket we know intimately,” Matteo Soldatini, At Mine Hospitality CEO, said in a statement. “We’re excited to manage this asset and continue showcasing the strength of independent hotels in South Florida and the other markets where we operate.”
The reopening marks the completion of extensive repairs and updates, including new flooring, upgraded en-suite bathrooms, refreshed exterior paint and a 40-year recertification. The property also has a spacious lobby, communal kitchen, on-site laundry facilities and design touches that look to blend Miami Beach’s modern aesthetic with nods to its Art Deco heritage.
