The Compton, a new independent lifestyle hotel overlooking Bentonville’s historic Square, has made its debut in Arkansas.
The 142-room hotel was developed by Blue Crane—a Northwest Arkansas firm which takes on community-centered projects—and is being operated by Dallas-based Practice Hospitality. The opening of the hotel—which was named for conservationist Dr. Neil Compton—complements major downtown Bentonville revitalization efforts which reinforce the city’s identity as a prime Mountain Biking destination.
“Bentonville draws you in with quiet confidence and a soul you feel before you name it,” Bashar Wali, founder and CEO of Practice Hospitality, said in a statement. “We shaped a place that honors the Ozarks with sincerity and invites travelers into a region that rewards curiosity and asks to be experienced with intention.”
The hotel looks to pay tribute to the region’s heritage with an environment shaped by natural materials and layered textures. Design partners include Marvel Design as design architect, BRR Architecture as executive architect and CRÈME by Jun Aizaki overseeing interiors.
Blending biophilic design with hyper-local programming, The Compton introduces several amenities including a dedicated Cycling Concierge, three distinct dining concepts operated by Indigo Road Hospitality Group and guest touchpoints inspired by regional folklore.
Created with Bentonville’s cycling community in mind, The Compton’s Cycling Concierge—powered by local adventure company 37 North—provides guests with complimentary route guidance, curated recommendations, guided group rides and weekend trail shuttles.
Guestrooms, meanwhile, incorporate natural hickory millwork, green-blue accents echoing local waterways and window seats designed to replace traditional desks. Bathrooms feature hand-crafted turquoise tiles designed to give the feel of cascading water and layered natural textures. To support post-ride wellness, rooms include yoga mats and foam rollers.
Room options range from Premium Rooms with elevated views to Studio Suites designed for solo travelers or couples. One Bedroom Suites feature separate living areas for families or guests seeking more space. Three Presidential Suites offer expanded living and dining areas with the flexibility to host small receptions or executive meetings, along with views of Bentonville.
Art curated by OZ Art NWA appears throughout the property, featuring works by prominent Arkansas artists including William McNamara and Alice Andrews, as well as regional creators such as Cate McCoy, Kristin Musgnug and Stephen Ironside. The Gallery—a ground-floor venue with park views—doubles as a showcase for rotating artwork.
